Signs That Spray Foam Insulation Has Failed
Foam fails for three reasons: the two parts were out of balance, the surface was too cold, or one pass was laid on too thick. You will see gaps along the studs, crumbly or spongy patches, cracks, dark staining, or you will notice a sharp odour still hanging around weeks later.
The fix is to cut the bad foam out back to clean framing and spray it again properly. There is no shortcut.
Wet Insulation After A Flood
Belleville has a long history of spring flooding along the Moira River, and basements anywhere in the city can take on water in a heavy thaw. Batts that get wet hold the water against the wall and start to grow mould. They have to come out. We remove them, let the wall dry and replace them with closed cell foam that holds up to dampness.
Old Attic Insulation
Old blown-in insulation in an attic often has dust, droppings and debris in it. Some very old attics have vermiculite, a grey-brown pebble-like material. Vermiculite can contain asbestos and must be tested and removed by an abatement contractor before we do anything in that attic. We will tell you if we see it.
Why Spray Foam Insulation Removal Costs What It Does
Removing insulation takes time, bags and disposal fees. Cutting out failed spray foam is slow work. We price removal separately in the quote, so you can see exactly what it adds.
